Patrick Preston

Patrick Preston is a Senior University Counsel who previously led the UW Medicine healthcare legal team at the University of Washington and oversaw provision of the full range of legal services for the multi-entity clinical enterprise, graduate health schools administration, and research operations before joining Stanford’s Office of General Counsel in 2024. In his legal career, he has practiced as a law firm partner representing clients for commercial litigation and in highly regulated industries, prosecutor, and appellate counsel, and served as a federal judicial law clerk.

He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, where he served as an executive editor of the law review. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and a Registered In-House Counsel in California. He volunteers as a moot court judge, writes on the legal profession, and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
