Megan Pierson serves as Senior University Counsel responsible for the university’s online education initiative and for international teaching and research activities. Megan also serves as Senior Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and leads the division responsible for university policies regarding faculty appointments and various other academic matters. Prior to assuming her current position with Stanford, Megan was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop LLP and General Counsel of two companies providing wireless phone and internet services. In those positions she advised and represented clients in connection with business initiatives, commercial litigation matters, and mergers and acquisitions, including the $70 billion Verizon Wireless joint venture. Megan received her B.A. degree (with distinction) from Stanford University and her J.D. from the University of Southern California.
